A CRITIQUE OF THE BIANCA/FANI-KAYODE FEUD

In all fairness and veracity, I wish to express my unbiased, objective and firm opinion to the Bianca/Fani-Kayode's feud. What started as a merely flimsy hilarious joke has turned out to be an outrageous clash of the titans as a result of the feud being fueled and instigated by loyalists of different camps who have vehemently misconstrued the statement made. You can clearly see how one utterance can multiply into an array of witty statements and misperceived by those ingesting the literatures on the discourse. You never know the hearts of man, and therefore should be very meticulous in the words you speak and write. I am sure if Femi Fani-Kayode in his wildest dreams had known that such an utterance would regenerate an almost unending fracas, and outbursts from the parties involved, I optimistically would say he, Femi would never have uttered those words that now seem to be the sharpest edge of the sword, piercing through every nook and cranny of the heart of the aggrieved party.
What started as a mere statement without any malicious intention from the speaker has now metamorphosed into a tug of war, symbolizing that few words may not be so small after all, it spits a wildfire and today it is difficult to prevent the attacking words emanating from both camps. It is more than just a statement, it is now a clash from two ethnic tribes, the Igbos and the Yorubas, a clash by two genders: Men and women, and a clash politically: those that belong to Fani- Kayode's camp and those behind Bianca Ojukwu's camp. Personally, even though he made the statement without thinking of the repercussions, because he meant no harm, I think Femi should not have used those names to cite an instance that he isn't tribalistic I mean no woman would tolerate that, because it is equated to kissing and telling and that very much demeans a Woman, but at the same time, I don't also believe that Femi fabricated this story because it doesn't make sense, why he should, because if there is anything, he stands to loose more than he stands to gain, if at all there is a gain. The bone of contention should not be whether Bianca has never met him or him, her because anyone saying both have never heard of themselves are purely being mendacious. From, the stories written, Femi answered without thinking, which means he didn't make it up, because if he thought before answering, he would have known that such a statement was quite derogatory and preposterous and he should never have mentioned any woman's name, even if it was true. A woman is a standby generator in a man's blackout, she walks in when every other thing walks out of a man's life, she is an equation that should be understood perfectly, a creature that should be respected honestly and an issue that should be approached meticulously. A woman is not a tool that should be used, she is not a toy to be played with by a boy, she is not a slave that should be maltreated but an equal of man that should be honored, respected, and treasured. No man should use a woman as an illustration to prove his prowess or anything.

  3. This is one of the most reasonable and dispassionate articles I have read on this subject so far and any educated mind will grasp where this writer is coming from. She hasn't reduced the fundemental issues in this matter to pure sentimental rambling but draws out the lessons for posterity.. A well written peace.
