ABAKALIKI — NO fewer than 15 lecturers of Ebonyi State College of Education, Ikwo were weekend, demoted over alleged involvement in certificate forgery and for claiming to have acquired Ph.D degrees from reputable institutions outside the country. Management of the college, on receipt of the report and recommendations of the committee set up to look into the alleged claims by the lecturers, said the exercise was not meant to witch-hunt anybody in particular but to ensure sanity and discipline within the education sector in the state.  read more here

Dana gets December Deadline to pay up compensation

Dana air has been given till December to pay up compensation to the families of those who lost their lives according to the minister of aviation Ms Stella Oduah the airline has paid over 60 percent of the claims. Failure to comply with the deadline will attract sanction from the federal government .
The Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, gave the order in Abuja during the 2013 ministerial briefing organised by the Federal Ministry of Communications.
She said, “The challenge of Dana is that of multiple claims. When you have multiple claims, it becomes difficult to ascertain who should collect. And until they are able to do that, they will not pay multiple claims and we will continue verifying and re-verifying to ascertain who should be the next of kin to claim the money.

What is the state of your health?

The state where we are is the state we actually need a transplant. When early diagnosis was done it was just a case of Renal Infection. Right now, the two kidneys are gone,but we a running dialysis at the moment.

When did you observe that you have this illness?

It was two years ago, but it was not depreciated to this level. Then it was a gradual process. it was just like a doctor’s prescription to control your blood pressure level. we did all that , but having off and on experience until it got to this stage.

What would you attribute to this ailment?

Most time people tend to atribute kidney problem to drunkenness or smoking. I was told that it doesn’t have anything to do with that, because as much as i drink and smoke then, it was casual drinking. maybe, they offer you a bottle of drink and all that, not that i have to drink 15 bottles or drink all through the day.

How much do you need for a transplant?

For transplant itself, it varies, because the procedure is $25000. The whole process of the treatment from pre-process,transplanting and post-transplanting will cost about $100,000. I(n two years i have spent up to five million which i have been trying to maintain myself. that is why it has been kept secret.
 
When are you going for the transplant?

God willing, i have like 8 to 10 weeks more to get it done. It’s strange, i still walk around a little. I can’t eat much again, N20 rice is even enough. I trust God and Nigerians for their financial assistance.

Words reaching us, has it that an undergraduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU gave birth to a baby girl yesterday morning inside the toilet of Moremi Hall, Block A.
The baby mama who’s name was given as Oyin is an Elect/Elect Part 4 Student of the Engineering department and currently stays at Number B103 Moremi Hall.
According to an inside source, Oyin wanted to flush off the baby without traces but didn’t succeed and later claimed the baby came out while she was trying to use the toilet.
We gathered from a reliable source that the baby was found by a cleaner in the toilet, the one-day old baby was already soaked with poo.
Both baby and mother were taken to the school’s teaching hospital. The news is that even her room mates didn’t know she was pregnant cause she was covering it up with clothes.

Lagosians oppose the New cremation law

As Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola signs the cremation bill into law,there are conflicting voices that greets it. Some religious leaders have distanced themselves from it, saying it is in conflict with what the holy books say about how to dispose of the dead.

The Rector, Markaz Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies, Agege, Lagos, Sheik Habebullahi Adam-al-Ilory, notes in a telephone interview with our correspondent that Islam does not support such an idea.

He says, “Islam does not support cremation. There is a verse in the Holy Q’oran that says it is from the land that we came from, and there we will return and it is from there, we shall be called up again.

“But Nigeria is a secular state. It is multi-cultural and multi-religious. It is now left for those who want to cremate their dead to do so. It is voluntary.”

On his part, the founder of Heal The World Mission Incorporated, Pastor Tola Olukilede, also shares the above view, using The Holy Bible as the basis of his argument.

KIDNAPPERS LURED ME WITH ICE-CREAM

A seven-year-old pupil of Martha Dei Primary School in Ogoja, Cross River State, Williams Ebele, said the kidnappers that abducted him on June 10, 2013 gave him ice cream to lure him to their hideout in the bush.

Ebele, who was abducted for four days before he was rescued by the police, also said the kidnappers took him once to a nearby river to take his bath.

He said, “They (kidnappers) came to my school after we had closed and said my father was calling me. I had not seen them before but followed them because they gave me ice cream#long throat thingz#. They took me to the bush and they gave me cabin biscuit for four days.
The names of the arrested suspected kidnappers were Mark Odey (27) and Julius Ogbor (22). Other paraded suspects who were linked to armed robbery, cultism and communal clash comprised Victor Edu (21); Ubong Udo (21); Anthony Etowa (30); Mathew Akpana (26); and Ikechukwu Okereke (30).

MIRACLE: AFTER 2 Years, Missing Child From Winners Chapel Found

Baby praise was kidnapped 2 years ago from the children's department of winners chapel. Her parents came back to pick her after the church service, but met her twin alone. It was indeed a war between the parents and the church authorities. Today praise is back.

She was kidnapped on Sunday, April 17th, 2011 and was sold to a woman in Kano. The kidnapper confessed that he was struck with a strange disease after kidnapping praise and later went blind. He also stated that bishop David oyedepo was always chasing him with sword in his dreams.

When they could not cope any more with the sickness, his wife advised him to confess and the child was returned to the church. Her parents brought her to church on Sunday for thanksgiving. Indeed we serve a living God.
